About

Abdul Baqi

Abdul is a highly talented and experienced leg spinner. He bowls with great skill and consistency. Whilst being able to turn the ball a long way, he uses tactics and strategy to pick up most of his wickets. Abdul is a smart bowler that is able to quickly identify opposition batsmen's weaknesses and use it to his advantage. He is able to read the game and situations well. As part of his wicket taking strategies, he varies his pace well and is aided with his wide range of variations to outsmart and outplay batsmen.

Abdul started his professional career in 2017 when he made his First Class debut for Boost Region and picked up 2 wickets in the match. A modest start which would soon take off. In his debut season he finished as Boost Region's leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets. This cemented his place in the team for the following season. 2018 would see Abdul improve on his previous season, once again being the leading wicket-taker for Boost Region and 7th overall in the tournament with 36 wickets. In the space of one year he made a tremendous achievement by taking 60 wickets.

His consistent performances over the years earned him a call up to the Afghanistan A team in 2023 to compete against Oman.

Abdul now wants to showcase his talent in the UK. With almost 80 professional matches and over 160 wickets to his name, it's clear to see that Abdul is a highly experienced cricketer whose record with the ball speaks for itself showing that he is an exceptionally skilled bowler that would make for a great asset to any club's bowling attack.
