Asif is an extraordinarily talented cricketer for his age. He has proven that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level and that he has the potential to go further. With the bat in hand, he bats with maturity and skill beyond his age. Owing to his excellent ability to face any type of bowling and having the ability to score all around the ground, he bats with great confidence knowing that he can produce match-winning performances for his team. He doubles up as a handy option with his off spinners capable of tying down an end and making a breakthrough.
Asif's talent was evident at a very young age having not only made his First Class debut in 2017 at just 14 years old but scoring his maiden half-century in the same match. Between 2017 and 2018 he scored 504 runs with an average of 42 which included 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries. A serious achievement for someone of his age and proving that he is a future talent of Afghanistan cricket.
In 2019, it came to no surprise when Asif was selected to represent Afghanistan U19 during their tour of India and again for the U19 Asia Cup. After impressing he was selected as part of the Afghanistan U19 World Cup squad ahead of the 2020 U19 World Cup that took place in South Africa.
Not only excelling in the longer formats of the games, he has also been seen as a valuable T20 player having played in the Kabul Premier League and the Shpageeza T20 tournament for a number of years due to his big hitting ability and attacking nature.
Asif has been a consistent performer and key member of all the teams he has represented since the start of his career. His professional record speaks for itself which, for a player of his age, is highly impressive to say the least.
Arguably one of the most talented overseas pro's on the market at the moment, he would be a huge signing for any club looking for a talented and natural run scorer that has the makings of a future star.
