About

Khanya Cotani

Khanya is a proficient batsman wicket-keeper with quality batting abilities. At the crease he bats with confidence having the ability to perform well against both seam and spin owing to the skills he has developed from playing at the highest level in South Africa. He is a very adaptable batsman, possessing the capabilities to bat anywhere in the top 6 having had experience opening the batting as well as batting in the middle order. At the top of the order he can be relied upon to get his team off to a good start and set the foundations for the rest of the innings. In the middle order he is able to navigate, steady, and rebuild an innings having done so on a number of occassions but also has the ability to escalate the run rate through his excellent strike rotation abilities.

He is an excellent gloveman behind the stumps providing energy and athleticism and boasts a very safe pair of hands.

Khanya's talent was evident from an early age growing up where he was seen representing Boland u15 and u19. Owing to his immense talent and potential as a wicket-keeper batsman and being one of the top players in his age group in this role throughout the whole country during this time, he selected to represent South Africa U19 during a number of tours and tournaments playing against the likes of Pakistan U19, India U19, Zimbabwe U19, and New Zealand U19. After proving his worth, he was selected as part of the South Africa U19 World Cup squad ahead of the 2020 U19 World Cup.

Khanya made his his First Class, List A and T20 debuts in 2019 for North West. Despite his talent and the potential that his coaches saw in him, Khanya was never able to establish himself at the professional level and after 4 years with North West, he lost his contract in 2023.

Khanya still strives to make his way back into the professional scene as he has a lot more to show. He currently plays premier league cricket in Johannesburg for Delfos CC as he works his way back into a professional set up.

He is now looking for his maiden UK season to develop his skills further and showcase his talent. He would be a great pick up for any club on a budget, given his experience at the top level, looking for a talented and dependable batsman.
