Lakshan started his professional career at SL Army Sports Club where he has been a loyal servant for over 10 years, having played over 140 professional matches for the team. He is one of those players that gets better with age which is evident as in the 2022/23 First Class season he scored 1105 runs finishing with an average of 46.04 which included 5 centuries and 3 half-centuries. During the List A season in that same year, he scored 483 runs with an average of 40.25, featuring 5 half-centuries. In 2023, he was selected by Dambulla Aura in the Lanka Premier League.
To date, Lakshan has an extremely impressive professional record having scored 6 centuries and 30 half-centuries across all formats.
