Lasith is an accomplished all-rounder known for his reliability and versatility. He excels as a top-order batsman, capable of scoring runs all around the ground thanks to his refined technique and extensive range of shots. His skills aren't limited to just his batting, as he's also an excellent spinner, employing a strategic approach that restricts the opposition's scoring opportunities while deceiving their batsmen with variations in speed and arm balls.
Lasith's promising career as an all-rounder began with his selection to represent Sri Lanka U19, followed by his First Class debut for Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC. His move to Burgher Recreation Club proved beneficial for both the team and Lasith, who finished the season with an average of 31.75. During the 2019 First Class season, Lasith showcased his talent, scoring two fifties and one century, ending the season with an average of 49.50.
Although he initially lacked opportunities to bowl at Burgher, he continued to hone his skills and eventually signed on with Chilaw in 2022. That year, he averaged 33.25 with the bat and claimed 26 wickets at an average of 24.38.
Lasith boasts a wealth of experience playing as an overseas professional for four different clubs. His first season was in 2015 for Southgate CC in the Middlesex County Cricket League, where he finished the season as the club's highest run scorer and leading wicket-taker, with 714 runs and 56 wickets, respectively. He later played for Dalton CC in the Cumbria Cricket League in 2019, where he once again emerged as the club's highest run scorer and leading wicket-takerwith 610 runs with an average of 27.73 and 60 wickets at an average of 13.57.
He was signed by Lancashire league club, Accrington ahead of the 2021 season, where he enjoyed a modest season finishing as the club's second-highest run scorer and leading wicket-taker, with 511 runs and 43 wickets, respectively.
In 2022, he joined Sudbury CC in the East Anglian Premier League, scoring 417 runs and claiming 29 wickets. While it was a challenging season with the bat, Lasith's contributions were still noteworthy.
Lasith is now seeking his fifth stint in the UK, where he has proven his ability to make valuable contributions with both bat and ball at the professional level and for the clubs he's represented.
