Matthew is a highly talented batting all-rounder. At the crease he bats with confidence and aggression, never allowing the bowlers to settle. He is a very versatile batsman capable of quickly adapting to different match situations and conditions. He plays seam well but plays spin especially well with his attacking nature and his wide variety of shots in his arsenal. During longer format matches, Matthew has the ability to dig in and build an innings by valuing his wicket whilst taking advantage of run scoring opportunities. During shorter format matches he is able to go up a gear and express more of his attacking nature.
Matthew offers a good option with the ball with his off spinners, having the ability to tie down an end whilst picking up crucial wickets. He is also a gun fielder with a safe pair of hands and impressive athleticism.
Owing to Matthew's talent, he played for Kingston Hawthorn CC 1st Grade team from 2020-2023/24. Kingston Hawthorn CC currently compete in the highest standard of club cricket in Victoria, The Victorian Premier League. He now plays for Brighton Union CC 1st Grade team in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association, a highly competitive league.
