About

Nasir Omar

Nasir is a talented and experienced cricketer. With the bat, he is an aggressive, hard-hitting batsman. He enjoys taking the attack to the bowlers and plays spin especially well as he has the confidence and ability to clear any boundary. He knows his game well and plays to his strengths making him a nightmare for bowlers. With the ball in hand, he is comfortable opening the bowling or bowling first change. He bowls with consistency and good pace (mid to high 70s). He is a smart bowler that is able to create and bowl to a plan.

As a youngster, eyes were on him as he came through the various age group levels. In 2015/16 he played for Afghanistan u19. He made his First Class, List A and T20 debuts all in 2017. After a very successful 2017 season where he showed great potential he was selected to represent Afghanistan A and also Afghanistan u23 in 2019. Nasir has achieved a lot in his professional career averaging over 40 in First Class cricket and over 30 in List A cricket. In his career he has scored a total of 5 centuries and 16 fifties.

In 2021, he was signed by Aston Hall CC who compete in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League. He had a fantastic maiden season scoring 1179 runs @40.66 and took 51 wickets @13.00 in all competitions. With the bat he was the second highest run scorer in the league. With his batting and bowling contributions he helped Aston Hall CC win the league and achieve promotion back into the premier league. He returned in 2023 but left early due to off field politics.

Nasir is clearly a talented cricketer with heaps of experience at the top level having played over 50 professional matches by the age of 24. He now resides in Canada for safety reasons given the current political climate in Afghanistan but continues to train hard to stay in top form. He would make for a great signing for any club considering he has the ability to contribute with both bat and ball and can bring an element of aggression to the batting lineup.
