Shawkat is an exceptionally talented batting all-rounder who comes highly recommended by Afghanistan superstar, Rashid Khan.
He bats with a great degree of confidence owing to his ability to comfortably face both seam and spin. Coupled with this is his wide array of shots in his arsenal which allows him to score to all corners of the ground with ease which makes him difficult for opposition bowlers to bowl to. He has a knack for building big partnerships and allowing himself to occupy the crease for long periods leading to valuable performances. He can easily shift up a gear and release an attacking approach which can see him clear any boundary with ease. With the ball in hand, he can be known to be a handy option with his off spinners. He can certainly take on a role of tying down an end and come on to break crucial partnerships.
Shawkat's talent was made clear from a young age having been selected for the Afghanistan U19 squad at just 14 years old. He made his unofficial First Class debut shortly after in 2015 for Speen Ghar Region. He made his official First Class debut in 2017 at just 17 years old and got his professional career off to a flyer, smashing 169 runs off 162 balls. Since the inception of his professional career, Shawkat has been a consistent performer and has played a key role for all the teams he has played for.
At just 24 years old he already has a wealth of experience and a credible record having played almost 100 professional matches, scoring three centuries and fourteen half-centuries.
It is clear to see that Shawkat is an extremely talented cricketer that performs for every team he plays for. A player of his talent with both bat and ball and given the experience he has would be an invaluable asset to any club for the 2025 season.
