Derbyshire based club, Eckington CC, secure South African batting all-rounder ahead of their 2024 Derbyshire County Cricket League campaign.

Kabelo is an established top order batsman that has found success in those position. He is confident when it comes to facing any type of bowling. He has a well-refined technique and wide variety of shots which allows him to easily adapt to different match scenarios when required. While not having bowled much at professional level, he has proved that he is more than capable of doing a job with the ball.

Growing up, Kabelo represented Easterns from U13 to U19. While excelling at junior level he was selected to represent South Africa U17 during the 2014 CSA Franchise Cubs Week where he played against some of the county's top senior franchise teams. From 2014 to 2016 he represented Easterns during the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week - a prestigious tournament that features the best young talent in South Africa. In 2014/15, he represented SA U19 during their tour to England and home series against Bangladesh. He made his First Class, List A, and T20 debut for Easterns all in the same month in 2014, which was no surprise given how well he was performing leading up to his debut's.

At the end of 2019, he was selected as part of the South African Invitational XI to compete in a series against the touring Men's England team. In the four matches he played he scored two half centuries against a loaded England bowling attack which featured the likes of Jimmy Anderson, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Matt Parkinson, Ben Stokes, Chris Jordan, Saqib Mahmood, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid. A serious achievement for any young player. He was part of the South African Emerging Squad from 2019-2021. He has played for three strong domestic sides throughout his career, Easterns, Titans, and the Warriors.

Kabelo has clearly performed at every level in South Africa and has represented teams that only the elite players get selected for which shows that he is a serious talent and possesses a lot of potential to keep growing his career.

In 2023, he signed for Caythorpe CC in the Nottinghamshire Premier League. Despite facing challenging weather throughout most of the season which led to many rain-affected matches which slowed his momentum and didn't allow for him to play his natural game. Despite this he was still able to put out a few match-winning performances for the club. Off the field, he was a hit with everyone at the club due to his friendly and likeable personality. He also brought with him an element of professionalism which helped raise the standards of the club. This rubbed off well on the team, especially the younger players who developed through this during the season.

Kabelo is looking to improve on last year. He is excited about his new challenge with Eckington CC and will be looking to take the Derbyshire County Cricket League by storm. With the skill he possesses he should have no problem doing this and will be a force to be reckoned with. He will be looking to use his knowledge and motivational skills to help develop the Eckington CC players and unleash their potential in order to improve their chance of promotion.

We are excited about this partnership and looking forward to watching it progress. We wish both Kabelo and Eckington CC all the best for next season.
